In order to ascertain the best entry point for engaging with legislatures in the ECA region, WBI in partnership with the IMF and the Joint Vienna Institute is organizing a regional ECA workshop on "Parliaments and the Budget Process" in Vienna from July 27 - 31, 2009. The aim of the workshop is to demonstrate good practice and examine different approaches to budget oversight in the EE region. The workshop will also provide a forum to advance WBI's research examining the operation of legislative budget audit committees in the EE region, and shed light on the practice of legislative financial oversight. This will inform appropriate entry points for future parliamentary training and institutional strengthening.
